"College is not for everyone. Some people need that four years to figure out what they want in their life, and some people don't." from the WB --> What I like About You show.
Do you need that four years? Yeah, I do. Some people would take more than four years and some people don't even need that four years. I think I need more than four years, and that's why, I am still in the college!
After graduating from high school, I never thought of what I want to be. I chose my major because my sister suggested it, and I thought that chemistry would be cool (and it turn out that I have to take biology too!!). Anyway, I wasn't thinking of what I want to be at that time. I thought that life is that simple. Finish your degree, get out of school, and go to work. I never thought of my own satisfaction nor whether I will be happy or not.
Coming to US really changed my mind a lot. In US, you just feel that every dream is possible and life over here is more relaxed than in my own country. There are so many majors to choose from. You just get confused sometimes. You don't really know who you want to be and who you will be. You will start questioning yourself whether your decision is right or wrong. When things don't turn out your way, you will start questioning your decision again. You might quit, or you might stick with it and questioning yourself everyday. You will become more depressed as time goes by. Turning into a whiner sometimes. You don't see light in your future. All you see is haze, rain, ice storm, dust storm, hail etc. You feel even worse when you look around and found out that your friends are walking toward their successful, bright future.
If you are one of those people described above, don't be sad and don't be anxious. Many people are like that. To be honest, I am like that too. I still don't know what I want in my life even though I am doing my M.S. degree now. You might ask, what the hell am I doing when I don't know what I really want? Let's ask yourself that question, what you want me to do at the mean time when I am trying to figure out my life? Are you gonna take care of me? Are you gonna decide for me? No, of course. Even you wanted to decide for me, I won't take it either. It's my life! So, at the mean time, what am I suppose to do? Staying in the school!! At least, while I am trying to figure out my life, I learned something. I got a degree or degreesssss. That's gonna be useful in the future. If you figure out your life while you are working on your degree, Congratulations! Now you know what to do with your life.
We learn as we grow. We understand ourselve better when we could think more maturely, and we can figure out our life easier when we are more mature. So, my dear friend, it is alright to be lost. Don't put pressure on yourselve. Don't worry about how other people will judge you, cause they might not even living the life they really want. :) You might be a lot more happier in the future than they are gonna be.
I kind of figure out what I really want --> Coffee shop, with great bakeries, wine and liquor. I always think that coffee, bakeries, wine and liquor are arts.
