Just realized that year 2004 is coming to the end. I haven't achieved anything yet except, have two bad results, and completed six required courses for my graduate study. Before I started my grad school, I have a lot of plans to learn a lot of things but, it is almost one year and I haven't achieve any of my goals. So, that's what I am gonna do next year:
1. Study abroad to Costa Rica. (Working on it now :) )
2. Taking Spanish classes
3. Expertised my ballroom dancing skills
4. Learn some Latin dances (shake your butt! babe..)
5. Taking Personal Fitness Training Program
6. Managing my money(I am very bad at that) and try to have some savings
The most important thing, COMPLETE MY RESEARCH!! So that I can go back for Chinese New Year in 2006 :) Keep our finger crossed. Hope the equipments wont broke down. Hehehe..Miss Chinese New Year sooo much!! I want to eat eat eat!!

God Bless them
God bless those earthquake victims. I was very shock and sad to hear that so many people died. Hope all those countries get the help they need so that it wont turn out to be some even serious disease spreading among all those victims. I heard from the news that some evacuated victims haven't been drinking water for days and some didn't even get food. Let's pray together for those victims..
UN, please do your job and minimize this disaster.

First Part of My Winter Break

This picture was taken by some random stranger who was waiting to take a picture with this sculpture. I can't remember who this sculpture is, but, emm..I remember he is quite famous and is a symbol of Texas Tech??
Ok, sis, Clear it up!
Ok, sis, Clear it up!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I went to my sister's graduation last weekend. It was pretty fun. I haven't seen her for almost a year. It was nice to catch up with her. We chatted, shopped and watched a lot of movies. We went to the mall (bigger than North Grand Mall in Ames) everyday!! EVERYDAY!! Hahaha..We were trying to get some birthday presents(ie Chinese New Year clothes) for our mum and of course, some for ourselves.
I also visited her university, Texas Tech. It is a very very HUGE university! The buildings are scatter all over the place and I can't imagine walking across the campus to catch another class when you only have 10 minutes between classes. It must be torturing, but maybe, is good for your health
. I think people here needs to learn how to roller blade or skate board so that they wont be late for classes. Luckily they don't snow as much as we have in Ames. If not, it is going to be a big disaster for the students.
If you want me to compare Lubbock and Ames, I still prefer Ames. Can you imagine how hot it will be during summer when they have 70F in the mid of December? I can't imagine living there during summer. It might be even worse than the weather in Malaysia. Why my sis always choose some places with extreme weather? Montana --> extreme COLD and now, Texas --> extreme HOT!! Hmm...
gotta ask her sometimes..
Even though Ames is a lot smaller than Lubbock, the houses aren't scatter around like Lubbock. It makes me feel safer. Even though Ames can be really really quiet during summer or semester break, I still love it. It is not that crowded and it makes you feel like you own the city.
The facilities in Ames are a lot better than Lubbock too. We have buses running around almost everyday and every 10 minutes during school hour until late at night. We also have special buses like Moonlight Express(cute name, huh?) running every Friday and Saturday night for those drunkies so that they wont drink and drive. You can't find this in many other universities.
Before the semester break, I helped my friend bringing a Japanese girl around when she came over to visit the university. She was thinking of transfer to ISU from California. After talking and introducing her to all the facilities, programs and activities we have in Iowa State, I started to realize how lucky I am. I always thought that these are common and offered in every university and apparently that is not the case. I always took things for granted and now I know how lucky I am to be able to study here.
Well, one thing that diappointed me about getting my Master degree in ISU is that we don't have cool graduation gown!! Master graduation gown in Texas Tech is a lot cooler than ISU. They have hood in addition to the gown and cap. Their hood have different color for different college or major. It is so sad!!
For Bachelor degree, I think ISU is still cooler than Texas Tech
. Hehehe..we have different tassel color for each college or major but they have only one color for all. Should write a letter to ISU to ask them to change the Master gown. Hmm...

Holiday!!
Yohooo!!! Holiday!!

Actually, if you ask me what is the date of today, I can't even remember! Hahaha..I am enjoying my life in Virginia
. Well, not that enjoy, since my lovely professors trying to make my holiday miserable by giving us projects and also, biochemistry exam!
Anyhow, I feel more relax than ever since my major professor already know that I wont be there for the whole week and she wont be expecting me to show up in the office.

I went to National Zoo that Sunday to see pandas. Hahaha
<--- That's the reaction CL gave me when I told her that
. Oh well, the two pandas in the National Zoo are very very very cute! Their life seems so good cause their daily routine are Eat, and, Sleep! That's what I love to do everyday, if I have a choice. Anyway, they eat a lot of bamboo leaves everyday. The way they eat are so cute. They just sit there, lying their back against the wall or stones, and then use their palm to grab the food around them. Look lazy, aren't they? The zoo also feed them with sweet potato, carrots and some "Panda treats" -- which they said that is high in nutrients. I also saw some picture of newly born pandas. Their sizes are only 1/900 of the size of their mother. So so so TINY!! Like a rat to me. I learned a lot about pandas that day. They eat about 30-40lbs of leaves everyday and their weight are about double mine, around 240 - 300lbs. Hehehe..I am not that skinny anyway.
KS got me a panda plush doll. Cute little panda.

Woman!) Didn't get much stuff though. All are so expensive! What's wrong with the outlet nowadays??!! I went to Bebe outlet and they sell most of their stuff same price as what they sell it in the retail store!
Hey! We are poor and cheap people and that's why we come to outlet!! Could you just sell it cheaper??!! Damn!!

Hey! We are poor and cheap people and that's why we come to outlet!! Could you just sell it cheaper??!! Damn!! I also went to a Korean grocery store here and get some DURIAN!! Hahaha..my favorite fruit! Miss it soooooo much! Even though it is Thailand durian, it doesn't matter. As long as it satisfy my craving for durian. I also got some UHT milk, which you could hardly find it in US grocery store. It reminds me of my life in Malaysia when I was studying in Subang. I always get a pack of Dutch Lady UHT milk every morning on my way to class. What a wonderful life here..
Ok..need to get back to my project now. Hope I could get it done by today so that I don't have to worry about it later.
Everyone, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! It is OK to gain some weight since you are gonna lose it during final week.

Back from Chicago..
Just came back from Midwest Food Processing Conference in Chicago. It was a fun trip. Miki, CL and I went there by flight(yeah, I know is only 6 hours driving distant, but we are lazy to drive) and stay in Holiday Inn near the airport. It was a wonderful experience because the hotel provide shuttle to most of the place we wanted to go. They send us to Sofitel, where the conference took place, pick us up from Mall and drive us to dinner. It is like we hired a driver! :P
After the conference and shopping(unfortunately I didn't buy anything), we went for Sauna in the hotel. Hehehe..What a luxurious trip especially during school day. We then watched a paid movie, "Princess Diary 2" in the hotel that night.
We enjoyed the time a lot. The weather was so nice and everything was just so perfect! I don't really want to come back. :(
Actually, I don't know what I want to blog tonight. I just don't feel like want to sleep right now.
Counting down..counting down..8 more days..4 more days of classes and 3 more days of TA..Counting down..to Thanksgiving break!!
Virginia, 8 more days..
Happy Belated Birthday to my dear friend,
~~Yee Chia~~

Ventilating..
Have a talk with an American businessman, J, today. He told me that he is a Bush supporter and he thinks that Bush should be re-elected. He said that he is glad because a lot of people come out to vote for "morality". He said that there are a lot of terrorism out there now and stabilization of the country is the main thing he think the president should be focus on. Hei, dude, if you American never went to interrupt with other country's business and leave people alone, terrorism wouldn't have happen in the first place. J somemore mentioned that a lot of people die. Well, if you guys didn't start up the war, less people would die! Also, your soldiers die due to wars but what happen to those prisoners in Iraq? You guys tortured them! Not only physically, mentally too!! It is even worse than dead.
J also said that B oppose gay marriage. Here's what I summarized from why he thinks gay marriage should be oppose, J said that marriage and family is about love. Hei, no offense, don't you think that marriage between gay people are also based on love? If not, why would they want to get married anyway? You oppose their marriage and do you ever know about the consequences if they don't get married? Those kids that they adopted, can only have one of them as their legal parent. They won't be able to get the social security benefits from the other parents because he/she is not their legal parent. And, if unfortunately that legal parent die, those kids will be orphan. The other parent won't have the rights over those kids and they will be taken away by social services for adoption by other families. Isn't that even worse? Those kids will have to be separated from their love ones due to the fact that their parents are gay and are not legally married. How sad would that be? Did you see or feel the love in this situation?
I am not saying that J is a bad person. He is nice, generous and helpful. Just that he is also another typical American who really needs to get out from the country, explore the world and open up his mind.
Sigh..American really needs to open up their mind a little bit... Somehow, I am glad that I am not brought up in America.

凌晨三點鐘
It's almost 3am. What am I doing here? Wasn't I suppose to be in the bed now? Hahaha..
Well, I like to stay up late once in a while. I know, my immune system doesn't have a chance to work tonight since I am still wide awake now. I think I had passed my bed time. Hmm....hope I can still fall asleep easily later when I feel like going to bed.
I woke up very early this morning. Hehe..I was too tired and I don't even remember I turned off my alarm clock. Luckily that alarm clock has snooze. So, I still make it in time as I promised Miki (just a few minutes late since we went to get breakfast from McD).
Here's what I learned today from doing the consumer panel:
1. Don't tell the consumer is an Informed Consent form that they need to sign because when people heard about Informed Consent, they tend to back off. Use other term instead.
2. Don't start it with Soy, start it with Chicken-flavor soy product. Emphasize the CHICKEN.
3. Smile, ALWAYS! This make you look friendly (even though you might not be).
4. Approach them, don't wait for them to walk up to you, cause, usually Americans won't (Asians, usually they will---it's FREE!).
5. Friends are important. They are always the one who would really offer you help when you need it. So, treasure those friends around you especially your true friends.
6. I am LUCKY! Hahaha...
I am done for all the exams I could possibly have before Thanksgiving break. I am FREE!! So happy to know that. Well, have to work on my project too. Wanted to get it out of my way before I go off for my break.

Exhausted..
It had been a long long long day... Slept at 1am last night, woke up at 6am this morning, trying to do some last minute study for my biochemistry exam. Went to get a cup of caffeine before my 9am class, continue study at 10am, then...go to take the exam! Bammm! Dead!
After being badly attacked by the exam, I still have to go to my boring ethic class and my long long TA duty. Done with my TA duty, then, I voluntarily helped Miki to prepare for her consumer sensory panel tomorrow. Got home at 10.30pm. Exhausted...........
Still need to get up at 6.45am tomorrow to get ready to help Miki with her panel in Fareway. Really need to sleep..but, I am enjoying my time talking to my old friends, Mo Liu, CL and Susie on MSN..Oh, help me! Stop me..hahaha
Nite..everyone..
Have a great weekend!

What a surprise!!
I was pretty upset when he sms me about the election result. I was in class when the result is finalized. It is unbelievable! I really don't understand why Bush win again!
I know that Kerry is not a very strong competitor, but at least, I think American should give him a shot! They have already seen what Bush have done to their country, why would they wanted to vote for him again? I was following the election results the whole night (I did went to bed after 1am) and it was very obvious that all those more educated states, for instance, east coast and west coast, voted for Kerry. However, all those midwest states, where most of the people are farmers or not that well educated, voted for Bush. Does this election results showed us that American need to improve their education systems? I wonder.
What will America be after 4 years? Let me guess:
1. Most American are afraid to go to other countries because everyone hates them.
2. Some American still think that America is the best place to live without knowing how other countries look like.
3. Nobody except those rich people, who eventually become richer because of Bush tax system, can afford the gas price ($10 bucks per gallon? or $100??)
4. ..................brain can't function..........................
God bless America..
(One of my friend is seriously thinking about moving to Canada if Bush is re-elected. Sigh...)

Election
I suppose I have to go to bed now but I just can't get myself away from the computer. Why?? Because, I wanted to know who win the election!
Bush? Kerry?
Well, I don't have the rights to vote, so, I can only pray for people to be smart enough to make the smart decision. Let's pray hard, even though, things seems like not going my way now. :'(
God..
Mengapa?? Mengapa?? Tuhan! Awak mau peperangan lagi kah? Tak cukup lagi? Banyak orang mati kerana dia! Dia lagi?? Buka mata dan hati awak! Tolong dunia ni!! Ah duh!!
Frustrated..ok, sweet dream everyone! Hopefully, tomorrow is really a better day! Damn..

Halloweeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

These are the costume I wore for the Halloween party. Look cute? Hahaha.. I took those pictures by myself after I got back from the party. I know my room is a mess. Too lazy to clean it up.
The head piece suppose to come with a hairband with both the halo and a horn. However, the hairband was too small and I have a BIG head, so, CL end up cutting out the halo for me and leave the horn and the hairband at home.It was fun though. This is the first time I dress up during halloween and I think this dress fully described my personality. Hehehe..
Happy Halloween, everyone!

Music!
Yohoo!! Finally, I got some music up to my website. Hahaha..
Well, when he bought the domain name for me, he also helped to change the hosting of my website to his ftp server. Now, I can finally put some music to my website.
Thanks to Jacy too.. ;) Without her help, I don't think I can figure out how to do that.
The music that is playing now is, "Marriage D'Amour" or, in Chinese, "夢中的婚禮". The first time I heard this song, I fell in love with it. I was watching "Meteor Garden", aka 流星花園 and the female actress was playing this song in the movie. The words she said was just perfectly go with the tune of the song. Hope everyone enjoy it!

Girls day out!!
It was amazing yesterday! I went out with CL, Miki and Dian for almost 12 hours (well, Dian left after 4pm).
We first went to the mall (a very very small mall) to get a Halloween costume. I finally make my decision and got one(broke now, too expensive!). Will try to post the picture up sometimes. Then, Dian left. We then go to Younkers and I got a pair of leather shoes (well, it is just too perfect, hard to resist). I know I spent a lot, but what can I say? I am a woman! I didn't shop for quite a while. Hahaha..finding excuses now.
We then went to King Buffet, and went to Cinemark 12 to took some crazy pictures out from the Van Gough machine. It was fun! Then, we all went to Miki's house to get our hair cut. Miki and I talked CL into color her hair. Anyway, the color doesn't seems to show up that well. Her hair color is too dark. Should have bleach her hair..Hahaha.
Finally, I get my hair cut. I haven't cut my hair for more than a year. Finally..well, I only ask Miki to cut some banks for me. I look really different now! Honestly, I don't really know whether I look better? or weird? He said that my face look chubbier (try not to provoke me), but others say nice. Anyhow, you can't really know what other really think cause in US, people just try to be polite most of the time. Now, is up to my judgement. I can only say that I look, different. Will try to post some before and after on the website, just if I could find pictures of mine.
Afterall, haven't really explain why it was amazing. It was amazing because I thought that I couldn't deal with people for more than 6 hours. Seems like I changed, I can be more ease around people and just be myself. Good to know that..

Now, I have my own website, with my name on it. It is kinda unique but, scary too.
Now, I can't bullshit too much on the website and can't talk bad about people.

Friday
It's a beautiful Friday. The weather is so great out there. Not sunny, is cloudy but is not that cold. The temperature is about 55 Farenheit, not that bad consider it is almost November.
What have I done today? Nothing much. 9am class cancelled, so, I slept till 9.30am. Do some preparation, then go to 11am class. Give out an exam to the class I am TAing, and, I am done for the day! Nice huh?
Sa is coming tomorrow. She is going to stay with me for emmm..I don't know how long. Anyway, it's not important. I am living by myself anyway.
So lazy to study. It's Friday, man! FRIDAY!
Oh well, it doesn't really make any differences. I usually didn't show up at regular working hours anyway. Isn't it nice to be a graduate student? Oh yeah, rite.
I was shopping for Halloween costume yesterday. All the Halloween costume on ebay are either too sexy, or too dull. Isn't there anything which is less sexy and yet, cute? Oh well, I might end up wearing my Baju Kebaya and be a Malay. :P
Any suggestion?

Great night..
One of my old friends, Anita came back today to do a presentation for her company. Me, CL, Nat and Jas went out after the presentaion for dinner with her. We were chatting and joking most of the time. It was really fun. Anita become hyperactive after the presentation. She was driving like crazy. Hahahaha..it was fun though. We haven't been hanging out since she got married to Kansas. It was a crazy girls night out. Nat, CL, Anita and I went to The Cafe after the dinner for some desserts and of course, liquor.
I like to hang out with them a lot because they are more open minded and we always joke about everything and anything, you know what I mean ;). I guess this start out after the first bridal shower we throw together for Anita. Things just get crazier and crazier everytime we hang out especially with the presence of alcohol. But, it is fun.
It is hard to find friends like this. When we grew older, it is harder to find a real friend or even some friend who is in the same channel as you. People just afraid to make friends after they grew older. Or, they just afraid of getting hurt or being turned down by others. They started to protect themselves more and always wanted to take instead of give. I guess that's what life taught us, protect ourselves.
I have a Tiramisu, a liquor with the blend of espresso, Kahlua and some cream. I thought that this drink wont be that strong but it turn out that, this bar really put a lot of liquor into their drink. So, girls, if you want to really get drunk, come to the bar in The Cafe.
Anyway, no matter how strong the liquor is, it seems that it doesn't cause any effect on me. Guess the espresso and Kahlua just counteract each other. Oh, by the way, some new thing here: some research showed that Coffee, cause inflammation and perhaps, heart disease. So, watch out! Don't drink too much. It is coming from pretty reliable source, Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Elephant
Elephant lives upstair!
I live in an old apartment and when you walk heavily, the person living downstair could hear it. However, this guy/girl live above me is an extreme elephanist! I can tell when he/her wake up, when he/her went to the restroom, and whether he/her is in the living room, restroom or bedroom! I can even tell you the position he/her is sitting/standing right now. Everytime when he/her walk, the big window in my living room will shatter. Sometimes, it makes me wonder whether my window will fall off due to his elephanist! Gosh! I should go and get a long broom so that when he start being an elephant again, I could just bang on the ceilings. Or, maybe I should go and get long wires that could connect my speakers high enough to reach the ceilings. Then, I could probably wake up earlier someday, or sleep later someday and play him/her some nice songs.
Now I really understand why elephant cannot be our housepet!

People Change!!
People Changed!! People Changed!!
Wow! What a dramatic change. People Changed!!!
Not that I didn't know that people change a lot, but just that I never expect this guy to change. He is always so confident, pretty antisocial and don't like to be the spotlight, never expect him to do something like this -- Organizing a Grad Nite?? Thought that he would always say -- N.O.M.B. (None of My Business).
Huh..seems like I am the one who doesn't change much about her attitude: doesn't like to hang around with Malaysian. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I like to live my life the way I like. :) If I went and hang around with them, listening to whatever rumors they have that day, and worried about how they will look at me, how they will talk about me at my back, bet I will miss out all the important things in my life. I will worry about which guy I am dating and what they will say if I break up with the guy and so on. Not that they are bad or anything, just that in a small little community, people use gossip to interact. When I listen about other people's gossip, it makes me conscious about what I am doing and sometimes affect my decisions. So, I think I am better off by myself. A couple of true friend is enough for me.

No title..
Haven't been updating my blog for days..or weeks? Ok, exactly a week. Have been caught up with a lot of things these days and also, the lazy worm in my brain started to grow and chew on my nerve, can't think very rationally. So, to prevent myself from posting some stupid stuff (even though I did it all the time), I choose not to post anything. (Trying to find some excuses for myself, ha!)
These few weeks, my high school classmates started to send out emails to the yahoogroups that we set up long ago. It is quite fun to get some updates from old classmates. However, none of them write anything about their love life in their emails. I guess, they are just too afraid about all the rumors or just feel uncertain about their relationship? Nevermind. Luckily none of them are married yet. Not like people in US, a lot of them married at very young age even though they are not pregnant. It is kind of scary to learn that. Some of them marry when they are only 18 years old. Not that this is wrong or anything, just that I still think that they are still too young to get married when they are only 18. They haven't even have a chance to go out to learn and know what they really want in their life. This might be the reason that half of the marriages in US failed. Ok, off topic.
Well, now I forget about my topic. --"

Teh Tarik!!
Suddenly really want a cup of teh tarik. I always love teh tarik and I always order teh tarik when I went to Mamak stall late at night. I couldn't order coffee because it usually makes me stay awake the whole night and become hyperactive. I also tried to limit myself to a cup of coffee a day, so, at night, is usually teh tarik. :)
For those non-malaysian, teh tarik is a regular milk tea with some special technique applied on it ;P. Well, I know there are caffeine in tea too, but, I only like hot drinks, so, just have to pretend that I didn't know it. :)
I was watching TV and expecting CSI and CSI:NY tonight, but it turns out that 3 channels are having the Presidential Debate, and the other channel is having a rerun of One Tree Hill. Well, nothing much to watch since I don't have a cable.
Boring night. Too lazy to study. I think I have about more than a week left before my second biochemistry exam coming up. Getting nervous now. You know, there are this kind of people, they are worried about something, but they just too lazy to take action to solve the problem. Yeah, that's me. Too bad.
Ok..continue lazying..

People comes, people goes..
Went to dinner with a couple of friends. Barbara is leaving to New Jersey this coming Saturday, and Mei is leaving back to Hong Kong tomorrow morning. It is not that I won't see them forever, I know that Mei is coming back after two weeks, but things happen, you know. People changed their mind all the time and people just changed. Ok..getting a little depressed here. ;)
Well, I am glad that Barbara finally got her degree and now she is moving back to New Jersey to her husband. It is nice to know that two people who love each other could have each other beside them everyday. :) I am also very happy that Mei got to go back to Hong Kong to see her family and Sam before she starts her new job. It is good for her. Really happy for her. I know she misses Sam and her family a lot. Hopefully, they can be with each other soon in the future. Just wanted to have some good thing happen to good people.
Everyone is gone. Just you, my lovely computer, and, me, well, and my ipod. :) Really glad to have the ipod. Eases me everytime when I really need some time off. Now, with this blog, at least I know that I could write something by using my computer. I think someday I would lose my ability to write by using paper and pen ;P Technology! --`
Anyhow, wanted to say Happy Birthday to Siang Ting! Hei, I didn't forget your birthday, ok? I sent you a birthday card, not the e-card (not like someone), my friend. Hope the postman won't lost it somewhere. I purposely put different stamps on it so that you can collect them. ;)
Also, Happy Belated Birthday, Zach! Sorry that we didn't know yesterday was your birthday. Guess you must be happy that you can drink legally now! ;)
Weather is turning cold here, so, my friends in Ames, or whoever is coming to visit Ames, put on a jacket, ok?
Ok..heading to my sack now..nite..

Virginia
Have been away the whole weekend. Pretty tired now. I went to Arlington, VA to visit him. It was a good trip though. I am pretty glad that I got to see him and also get away from all the stress Ames gave me.
I wasn't realize that I wasn't happy in Ames because of all the stress until the time when the flight touch down in Des Moines International airport. It sort of pulled me back to the reality when I started to think about all the stuff coming up this week, the carpet changing this coming Wednesday that the landlord insist of doing it, coursework, TA and my research. I felt like a big stone drop on my chest and it is so hard to breath. I wasn't happy the first day when I was in Virginia because my mind kept running through the carpet cleaning thing and how much troubles it would cause me. Seems like moving into this apartment had given me so much troubles. I might find some gray hair someday. :/ Then, I tried not to think about all this thing and enjoy my time. I am happy that I helped him set up his apartment and installed some furniture. It was pretty fun and happy when you know that you are doing something for someone you love.
Pretty tired now. Need to go to bed. Will talk about the weird stuff in Arlington next time. Nite.. --Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

To my dearest brother..
Today, September 23, 2004, you have left us for three years. I still clearly remember that morning when I picked up the phone, it was barely 7am in the morning. It was heart broken. I always tried to tell myself that it was just a joke my mum plays on me until I went home that summer and visited your graveyard. It was really hard to accept that. I think, if I never saw your graveyard, I am still in the denial state.
You are the best brother I ever had. You are the only siblings who actually grew up with me. We played together, fight with each other and helped each other most of the time. After we grew up, we share our secrets and things we did that we never wanted our parents to know. I am always the one who choose your outfit for you and I always enjoyed doing that. I still remember the time when I went to Taiwan, I bought a lot of things for you but I didn't buy anything for other siblings. You are also always the one who remember to buy me birthday present.
We are not able to find the person who caused that accident, but I know that you wouldn't want us to find him because this will only hurt us even more. I don't even know what I would do if I find him.
I am really regret that I didn't spend much time with you before I came here. Sometimes, I really hoped that things could changed and I could go back in time.
I am now working on my master degree. You told us before that, nowadays, everybody has a bachelor degree, so you think that a master degree might be more helpful. I am now working on the dream that you never had a chance to achieve.
I never told you I love you, but I know you knew it in your heart.
My prayers will always be with you..
Rest in peace, my dearest brother.

Thursday nite..
It's Thursday night again. Sirens going around my apartment. Don't know if it is police car or fire engine. Don't even bother to take a look.
I live just a few blocks to the campus town, which, a lot of bars are here and a lot of student live near here too. Thursday night, can be consider the pre-party night. US got this strict regulations about drinking age and thus, underage drinking become a serious problem. Can you believe that you have to be 21 to drink, but you can vote when you are 18 in US? Well, evidently, the government think that the teenagers are smart enough to choose the leader for their country, but not smart enough to make the smart choice about drinking. I think this age thing make the underage people even more eager to have a taste of beer(you can't believe how much they love beer!). Therefore, Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night and sometimes even Sunday night, you will see a long line outside the bar, or if you have some connection, you might be able to get into some house party. House party are usually for those underage people. I never been to one though. Not a big fans of crowded place with drunk dude trying to get laid. Anyway, when those people got drunk, they will do some stupid things. Sometimes, they will go to set off the fire alarm, or vandalize something and make the police officer busy.
It is annoying though because during these nights, there are more police car around the town and you have to drive really careful, no speeding! (In US, you cannot "rasuah" the police officer, and when you got a ticket, your car insurance increase) And if you go to bed earlier, you have to close all the windows. If not, you might be waken up by the police and fire engine's siren. The worst case is that, some people set off the fire alarm in your apartment, and you have to get out from your dream, and evacuate when there is no fire at all!! --"

wow woW wOW WOW!!!
Don't have the mood to study now, so, I turn on the TV watch Jay Leno's show . He was joking about Oprah Winfrey giving out Pontiac G6 to all her audience two days ago and make other talk show host look like cheap bxxxxxd. I was curious whether the news is true or not. So, I went on to check on the website and found out that indeed it is TRUE! Wow!
The Pontiac dealer actually said that by sponsoring Oprah Winfrey and giving out 276 Pontiac G6 (which is around 7 million), they actually advertise their car better than when they spend 50 million to do the advertisement! Can you believe that?
I know that Oprah Winfrey is a very popular talk show host and she had a lot of viewers and audiences. I read news about how people trying to buy something she wore in the show and how she helped advertise a certain brand of clothes or shoes. I never knew that she could actually helped advertise car! Wow! Seems like she is a lot better and popular than Martha Stewart. :/
I am now really impressed with what these popular talk show host could do to their audience and the public. Hmm..maybe she should affect her audience so that they won't vote for Bxxx in this coming election? Hehehe..

Am I going to make it? Am I not?
Stressed out from studying Biochemistry for the whole night. Still 3 more chapters, 110pages to go and 20 amino acids' names, structures, abbreviations and single letters to memorize. 3 1/2 days left after minus out the time I have to work and TA.
Can anyone find me a flower with a bunch of petals? Need to peel it to know if I can make it or not..
Am I going to make it? Am I not?
Nite..sleepy..Might need to fill my stomach with caffeine again tomorrow..

IT'S A CRAZY WORLD
When you thought they are your friend, they betrayed you..
When you thought you are healthy, you got so sick suddenly and have to be hospitalized for weeks..
When you thought your professor will do what she promised, she changed her mind again and put you into big troubles..
When you thought respecting other people's privacy is a common knowledge, you witness your officemate going through your stuff when you are not in..
When you thought you only have one exam next week, your professor changed his mind and you turned out to have two..
When you thought you are going to kickboxing, you found out that you wear your sneakers instead of you sport shoes..
When you thought that guys in food science department are not much different from guys in other department, you just knew that they are no different from gals in food science department..
When you thought you will get done with your degree in two years, your professor just tried to delay you..
When you thought that you are still the you three months before, you suddenly realized that you are bitching about people too much..

Just a thought..
Just finish two pages of my biochemistry book. 100+ pages to go. One question come through my mind when I was studying.
"How did you know if he/she is the right one?"
I have been throwing this questions to some of my married friends and the answer I got is, "You just know".
Some of my friends they got married when they were only 20 years old or in their early 20s. That sounds scary to me. How did they know if he/she is the right one? I guess maybe they are really mature enough to know that. I have seen a lot of marriage or relationship were ruined when they start to work. I think people changed after they start working.
Well, I don't have any answer to all these questions since I m still in school and I am single. Even though I am working half time, working in school is still, well, not that complicated as in the society.
Just a thought of mine..

In a very bad mood now. Need to go back to lab today to do some sample for that fat ass. Seems like my professor don't really wanted to hire another person to do that job. She and another professor kind of throw it back one me again. I am getting really frustrated now. I tried to tell the other professor that I am not a superwoman and I couldn't handle so much stuff at once but he seems like he don't understand what I am trying to say! Gosh..what's wrong with my life now? I am getting lost.
Things around me are getting more confusing than ever. Friendship, my personality, my work, my study...everything is so off! The only thing that is right is my family members and my relationship. I am lost now. Losing my directions and don't know what I want to do with my life. The only thing I could do now is to complete my degree and try not to think about other stuff. I have no choice, I started it, now, I have to finish it. I guess that is what we call the "Mature" way to solve things. Growing up is tough..

Just get out from all the classes and work. Pretty tired and hungry now. Need to get use to that. My life will be like this every Wednesday and Friday due to that TA job. Hope this semester will be over soon. Wanted to go home very badly. Home sick..
Waiting for CL to go to Rec center to do some exercise. Haven't been doing any this week. Too busy with my work and classes. Don't think we will do it though. Too tired. Might as well go and get some food..haha..we will see..

Well, planned to write something but get stuck playing around with the different skins I just found. It's pretty cool. I still couldn't figure out how to put the comment thing ^~^, hehe..nevermind, not much people leave comment anyway. :)
Ames is getting colder now. Winter is coming, actually, fall is not here yet. Oh well, let's wait to see how much snow we will have. This year might be tough for me. This is the first year I have a car during winter. I guess I will start to take bus when the snow cover up my car. --"
I just missed a broadway show, "Tap Dog" tonight. I was planning to go but don't really have mood. Somemore, I haven't get used to watching movie or broadway by myself yet. Will try to learn..
KS just left this morning. He is now in South Bend, IN. He will be driving for, emm another two days before he reach Virginia. Hope everything goes well for him. Pray hard.
Now, I am officially living by myself. Watched TV and iron my clothes the whole night. Eating leftover pizza from last week, leftover dim sum from last weekend, hmm..see how well my stomach could survive this time. If not, haha..I can probably get an excuse to get away from my TA duty tomorrow. :P The professor is pretty nice, he told me today that I can tell him if I am sick, he could handle it. I was touched when he told me that.
Tomorrow, hope I can finish tidy up the apartment. Need to start study for my biochemistry class now. A week from the exam..huh...being warned not to do that by a lot of graduate students who took that class, but, lazy people will never listen. ^^ Hopefully, hehehe..I still can make it.
Now, need to conquer my fear of dark...good night..

Sometimes, being honest is the best way. I have been wanted to tell my major professor for so long that I do not want to work on the project, but I am just not brave enough to do that. Well, today, I finally have the guts to tell her. Thanks to Sa who told me the technique to express what I think and to get what I want, and also thanks to Nat who gave me the courage to tell her. Hu...finally, I get out from that project. Sleep better now. :) Need to thank KS for his support all the time..even though he had been nagging me since my professor assign me that project. :P Now he is glad that I have the guts to tell my professor.

Destiny..
Yesterday was KS's birthday. (Happy Birthday!! and Congratulations!!) He planned a BBQ party for his friends because he promised to treat them after he got a job. It is such a coincident that it is also his birthday that day. :)
Jeff was the chef, again. Everyone loves t0 have him as the chef because he make the best bbq rib! I was having fun yesterday. There are two different groups of people there, one are from his lab, and the other are from his friends outside his department. Well, some of them are really quiet and they didn't interact between groups that well. I think this is highly dependent on the personality. Some people will try to get along in a party but some just prefer to sit in the corner and make him/herself feel bored.
One thing I feel really sad about is that, one of my friend, he used to like to socialize with people a lot, well, not a lot but at least, he wont be the one who will sit there and get bored had changed after he got another big group of friend. I felt like he doesn't want to make any new friends except those friend that other people brought into his group. He seldom mix around with us that much either. Well, I guess there is a destiny for everyone, and, maybe, also for a friendship.
Where will my destiny brings me to? How about all the friendships and relationship I have now? Will I be back to Malaysia? Or, will I stuck here? Not knowing the answer might be the fun or maybe, the worst part of the whole journey.
Let's have fate in the god we trust..even though he/she already let me down once..

Very free now. We are suppose to have a class now but we are not sure if the professor is coming. So, we ganged up and decided not to go. Wakakakakaka..that's the good thing about small class and knowing most of the people in the class. :P
I am now doing nothing in Heady computer lab. I am tired. Woke up at 7am this morning because we have an appointment with the legal service to ask about our rights. The management of my previous apartment, First Property Management, charges us for 300 bucks without appropriate explaination and prove. The jerk, Mike, said that the closet damage costs 100 bucks. Ok, we already written there that the closet got some white paint when we moved in. So, he said he will return us 100 bucks for that. Well, anyway, paiting a closet costs 100bucks??!! Excuse me!! Anyway, this is settle.
Then, for the 200 bucks, he said there is a large stain on the carpet! We have been living in there for 3 yrs! Do you think we wouldn't notice if there is a large stain on the carpet? We ask him to itemize it why this costs 200bucks but he couldn't! And, the most important thing is that, he already changed the carpet! He promised the current tenant that he would change the carpet if they rent that apartment and he also told us before that if we continue lease, he would change the carpet for us. So, if you already planned to change the carpet, there is no reason to charge us for that! Somemore, the carpet wasn't new when we moved in. It had been used for several years and we all know that carpet usually lasts for only 7 years the most. Besides this, he told us that he leave us a note asking us not to clean the carpet. Emm...excuse me, if you really did, do you think we are that stupid to spend 100 bucks to clean the carpet??!! He is a ridiculous son of the bxxxx!
We talked to the attorney and he said that we could file a small claim against him but two of us have to present during the trial. It is a lot of hassle but, you know what? In order to teach this bastard a lesson, I don't care!
Sorry if I am really rude here but I really couldn't find a better word to describe him. Thanks to Mike Reid who thought me all these words..hahaha.. (There are two different Mike here, one is that jerk, and the other one is my friend, Mike Reid :) )

Something is bugging me these few weeks. I have been trying to figure out the answer for weeks and lastly, I got it. Even though I wasn't happy with the answer, well, what the hell? That's the answer, I can do nothing with that.
Actually, I expected that answer, but I don't expect the explaination. I am hurt when I knew the answer. Well, actually, I already decided to give up. So, even though the answer and the explaination hurt me a lot, at least, I already have an idea what I am going to do.
Goodbye, my friend. All the best in your future! I don't hate you, I am not mad at you or anything, just that if this is what best for you, or if this is what you decided, I can live with that. All the happy memories we have before will always be with me.
After all these years of being a "human", I have learned that we could not beg for a friendship or force someone to be our friend when they don't want to. Friends, come and go. If we can get along, then we could be good friend. If we could not, then we can be "Hi" and "Bye" type of friend. If our friendship turn sour, we could try our best to work it out. If it doesn't work out, then we could just leave our friendship to fate.
I have already tried to work it out, you decided to give up. So, I respect your decision. You will always be my friend just that we will not be as close as before or we might turn into "Hi" and "Bye" type of friend.
Whatever..

Hiu...Just came back from kickboxing. Pretty tired and exhausted now.
This is the first time I participated in a kickboxing lesson. CL and I planned to try it out to see if we like it, it is quite fun though. I haven't been sweating so badly since..I don't even remember when. :)
For those who have no idea what kickboxing is, here is the definition from Dictionary.com: A martial art and sport of attack and defense, in which competitors wear boxing gloves and throw punches as in boxing and kick with their bare feet as in karate.
Well, I didn't wear any boxing gloves in that class though. It might be really cool if we could have a chance to wear those. And we did not kick with bare feet, we wear our sport shoes all along.
I like this sport because I kind of found my own "masculine" side when I did that sport. I used to play Chinese drum when I was in high school and I felt very sporty when I did that kind of sport. Doing kickboxing allowing me to sort of explore that side of me again, which I like it a lot. It makes me feel strong and independent, which I need the most right now as KS is going to leave for his job in Virginia soon.
Luckily CL likes that sport too. I thought she wouldn't like it because she is a soft girl and at the beginning, she prefer yoga over kickboxing and I am the one who drag her to the class.
These few days, I have been working out a lot. I haven't been work out that much for the last four years. CL and I went to yoga, pilates and kickboxing. We were thinking about going to the Latino Grooves tomorrow, but I think we might not be able to make it since CL has to do the processing. Hmm..I am thinking about going alone. We will see..
Hope that we can continue to work out like this in the next 13 weeks of school. I really need to lose some fat..haha

Since I become a graduate student or I should say research assistant, I become more concious about the way I spent my money.
The first few months when I got my salary, I start spending my money on a lot of stuffs that I have wanted for so long, and turn out to be that I don't really use it or need it. Now, I am living by myself and the rent is more expensive than the rent I paid before, I am really aware of the money going in and out from both my checking and saving accounts. This is a good sign though. At least I might emmm..save some money :P
It is good to be financially independent. I am really happy after I become a research assistant because I know that at least, I don't have to ask money from anyone again. The salary is not very high, but is still enough for me to have some saving every month.
Now, I am working on the money to pay for my car. I consider the money I used to pay for my car as a loan from my parents. :)

Congratulation to CL!! She got a quarter assistantship lastly. Hmm..save big moneyloh. Should ask her to treat us. :)
Yesterday was Miki's wedding. Well, a super funny incident happen though. We tried to keep warm food warm, so, we stuck those warm food into the oven. However, S doesn't know that the oven is filled with food and also some plastic covered food. He tried to bake his lasagna and he turn on the oven without checking it first. Then...Mei saw smoke coming out from the oven. She was curious what was going on and she open up the oven and found out that some food are burning inside! The plastic bag is melt and the mittens are on fire! We have to pull the food out so we open up the oven and tried to save as much food as we could. Unfortunately, by doing this, the smoke started to come out from the oven and trigger the fire alarm. The fire alarm in the whole building was ringing very loudly and there is nothing we can do. We have to leave the building and wait for the fire engine to come to turn it off. The fire engine came..at last..but, they have no keys to access to the room. We have to then try to call the landlord to come over here but you know, Saturday, who is working? especially at 6.30pm? Hahaha..
Well, we are lucky enough. One of the landlord passed by and he came in to open up the door. Hiu..it took more than half an hour to get everything back to the order.
I guess, Tomo and Miki must have an unforgettable wedding this time.
It was funny that this time, the youngest lady got the bouquet again! Still remember last time during Anita's wedding, Tshiela's young cousin got the bouquet and this time, the same thing happen again. Hmm..
Oh! Forget to mention one thing. I watch the Olympic that day and one thing surprises me! There is one Malaysian boy taking part in the diving program. The thing that surprise me is that he look like he is only 13 years old! Wow..neve knew that Malaysia got athletics capable of doing that event. He did it well though. I am also happy that he is a Chinese..hehehe.. Sorry, Malaysia have been helping Malays too much. So, it is good to see some Chinese come out from this. :)

If I Ain't Got You..
Still remember the time when I went to Las Vegas for the IFT convention, I saw this MTV in one of the channel and I started to love this song. This song is sing by Alicia Keys. The lyrics is really meaningful.
The songs makes me realize that we always wanted a lot of things: Fame, Money, Power, or everything, but these things can't be taken to the graveyard when we died. When we are trying to obtain or fulfill our demand, we forget about people and things that we should treasure, and sometimes, we even hurt their feelings and lose them.
I think in our life, we should know how to appreciate those friends around us, live our life to fullest and treasure every moment we have in our life. A precious relationship, memories, loves and other things that money couldn't buy are those things that could really bring us happiness. These are those things that we should listed in our list as WANTED!
Hmm..hopefully, someday I could really stop buying and wanting stuff that I don't need! I wanted too much stuff in my life, a Powerbook G4, a luxurious house, car, lots of money, life without work...hahaha.. I also wanted a lot of love from everyone..even though my parents and family members love me a lot, I never felt enough. Should change..should change.. :)

Mad and Happy.. ^.^
The internet connection in my building SUCKS!! They kept signing me out from my msn and then sign me in again! My friend thought that I was there and started to send me messages. The worst is that it interrupted my conversations with my friends. Oh! What can I do? I can't even login to blogger and sometimes when I login, they disconnected again. Hopefully, when I am posting my blog, this internet connection work for that few seconds!
I am very happy since yesterday. KS got a job offer in Virginia. I am really happy for him even though I might have to live by myself after he is gone.
I just figured out that I am actually afraid of dark. I have nightmares and couldn't sleep well these few days when KS was gone for the interview. Monsters and professors came into my dream..make my dream a nightmare (--"). I actually dreamt of Spiderman :P but he doesn't come to save me, he actually was running for his own life in my dream.. :/ weird.. Hero become a coward in my nightmare..Maybe next time I will dream about Superman fall from the sky when he was trying to fly and smash on me when I was walking on the street.. ^^
I have hard time concentrating in all the classes I am taking now. I was day dreaming even though my eyes are staring at the professor or the lecture notes. I guess I haven't come back from my summer yet..
Started my TA job today. It is kind of weird. Those people in the class are barely younger than me and some of them are even older. Those younger one are unfriendly. One of them who just changed her major from dietetics to food science is extremely unfriendly, just like other nutrition people. Nutrition people have known to be weird in my department. I think she should just switch it back to her dietetic major, she is just not like us! WEIRDO! Nevermind..I just need to get done with that stupid TA credit and get myself out of that routine.

Still staying wide awake. School starts tomorrow. Very anxious. Hopefully, everything goes fine. Just drink another cup of 2%, hopefully can sleep well tonight. KS is gone for another interview. This is the second night I am home alone since I moved into this apartment. No weird sounds, ok? I am not that brave.
A part of me telling me that, "Hei, be strong and you can beat another semester!" the other part of me is saying that, "Hei, let's quit! Go home and join your family!". Huh...sigh..

Hey dude, I make it! YEAH! YIPPIE!!
I just drive to DSM airport and drive back. KS has an interview in Virginia and Mike wasn't around. So, I have to be the driver.
I never drive on US highway before. Even though I drive on the highway a lot in my country, driving on US highway is still different. In my country, speeding wasn't a big problem cause the traffic on the opposite side will usually hint you if there is any police in front. They will flash their lights and we will slow down to the speed limit. But in US, well, you will hear the siren if you got caught speeding. There will be no hint but tickets.
I never drive to Des Moines before and I don't really know the way either. I have no problem driving there because KS was with me. On the way back, I thought that it would be easy by driving on the same way I came. However, when I was halfway to 235 East, the road closed! I was petrified at that time. I don't know what to do and I start calling KS. He couldn't help me much because he was not there. So, I decided to drive back to the airport to get a map and ask for direction. On the way back to the airport, I saw a gas station and I walked in to ask the cashier. That lady was extremely nice. She wrote down the direction for me. I followed the direction and it was a long drive. On the way, I saw an adult shop name Pinky's. Hmm..should tell M about that. :P
Finally, I make it to 235 East. I popped in Sheryl Crowl's cd and started to enjoy my drive. It was pretty fun though.
Now, I am back to unpacking.. :(
Didn't make it to state fair though..sigh..
I just drive to DSM airport and drive back. KS has an interview in Virginia and Mike wasn't around. So, I have to be the driver.

Excited..and Exhausted..
Excited.
A lot of people look really depressed when thinking of school is getting started soon. I always showed other people a depressed and unhappy face when we talked about that too. However, I just realized today that actually, I am excited about that. Hmm..weird huh? Yeah, is weird.
I think this is due to the fact that I like busy life. These three years in US, my favorite semester is Spring 2003. I was taking 17 credits that semester and also working part time as a lab helper. It was fun because I was always busy with my school work, lab work and I have to wake up at 7am or 8am everyday. In that semester, I become closer to some friends who I barely talked to before. I was pretty active that semester and served as both vice president of food science club and my college's student council. It was a busy semester but I was happy because I spent my time wisely. I hang out with friends sometimes, and still can be lazy sometimes. My result was actually very good that semester. I scored straight A for all the classes I took.
I guess I am getting excited this coming semester because I am going to take a biochemistry course that when you mentioned to all other graduate students, they will give you a scary and frown face. I like to challenge those classes that were known to be tough and I wanted to get an A out of it. This spice up my spirit and also, give me some target to achieve.
Exhausted.
Have been trying to unpack my stuff for a week. Hopefully can get it done before school start so that I can have some peace in mind without someone nagging me everyday about how slow my progress is and how messy the apartment is. I personally also don't want to deal with the apartment after the school start. Wanted to concentrate in scoring straight A again. :) My wallet is getting skinnier now after getting some new stuff for my apartment to make it more homey.

Treasure or Trash??
I am unpacking stuff and started to realize that I kept keeping those small little things that others gave me and also some other stuff that I think is a treasure. I have been here for three years. Having friends come and go, this has helped me to build up a good fortune of ---- treasure?? trash??
I really don't know what to do with those stuffs. I wanted to keep them, but when I move again, should I bring them along? Or, when I am planning to go back for good, should I bring them along? Where should I put them? After years and years, how much "treasure" will I have then?
Another important thing is that, will I look through those stuff some time in the future? Or I will just keep keeping them?
I guess, is time for me to think about the solution if I still wanted to keep my "treasure"..
Sigh...

I woke up at 6am this morning, planning to go to the airport to say goodbye to a friend, MP, and then pick up another friend, CL, at 10am. Well, when we reach there, MP is gone. She was no where to be found. So, we decided to go to IHOP for some breakfast while waiting for CL. After finish the breakfast, we still have an hour left before CL's arrival. We were wondering what we should do with the spare time. Then, my phone ring. Cinday called me and tell me not to go to the airport yet because CL's flight is delayed until 12pm due to the weather. Ok....Why am I waking up so early??!!
Anyway, we still couldn't get CL yet because when we check on the internet, her flight is cancelled. God bless you, CL! Hope you are safely in Chicago's airport now. :)

Done moving my apartment three days ago, however, I am not finish unpacking them yet. Too many stuff going on around me, so, need some time to unpack those boxes. Hopefully, I can get it done before the school start, which is, this Monday. I didn't have internet connection in my new apartment yet. The reason this happen is probably because I am too cheapskate. :) The internet connection is free but the modem costs 60 bucks! Now, I found a cheaper one from cheggpost, so, hopefully can get it set up by tonight.
Iowa State Fair is going to end this weekend. I haven't got a chance to go there yet. My friend just came and told me not to go during the weekend because it is going to be too crowded. Well, I don't think I have a choice here. Tomorrow is the only weekday left before the fair is over and I have some stuff to do tomorrow too. So..... :( We will see....
Everyone out there! I am lazy to go back to school! Would anyone offer me a job with high salary and don't have to work except online everyday?
just dreaming..

B, is a guy who works in the same lab with me. We always joked with each other and argued with each other a lot. I never have a serious conversation with B even though we knew each other for about half year.
Today, B and I came into the lab at the same time. So, we started to chat with each other while I was autoclaving my media. I started to tell B about all the things FA had been doing and all the troubles FA had been getting me into. Surprisingly, B actually knew about FA's personality and what he really is. I always thought that B is just like my professor who believe everything FA said and did, seems like I am wrong the whole time.
After chatting with B for a while, I just figure out that B is actually a very smart guy who knew what he is doing, and also has a good judgement about things and research. He told me that he actually doesn't believe in the result FA was getting from his research and he advised me not to learn the techniques from FA because he knew that FA is a total screw up.
I always thought that I am the only one who doesn't believe in what FA was doing because his results are not persuasive enough and he couldn't back it up with any previous published research paper, but seems like I am not the only one. It is glad to know that my suspiscion was not based on the fact that I dislike him, but the fact that his results were totally off and untrue.
B is very understanding and he also told me that sometimes it is hard to reject something your professor assigned for you. He somemore offered me help by telling me to ask him instead of asking FA when I have a question.
Sometimes, we need time to really know a person. I learned a very valuable lesson and also started to build up a friendship with B.
I need to get a proposal of my thesis research soon so that I could make some modification like what B and I have discussed to increase the applicability of my research in the industry.

My professor will be gone next Monday to Wednesday again. She needs to babysit her children. Anyway, I still need to work for those days cause the fat ass's project is getting started and I am asked to help him.
KS has an interview next Wednesday and CL is coming back next Thursday. MP is going back next Thursday too. Seems like life is getting more exciting right now. I am moving Monday night and hopefully can get everything set up by this week. I prefer to get the apartment well arranged before school starts. I will be really busy next semester and hopefully, get a good grade afterall. Need to pull up my gpa.
This Monday is also Dr. Glatz's retirement reception. Unfortunately, the reception is exactly the same time as my moving time. Guess I couldn't make it then. Hopefully, no one will be mad at me. Anyway, she is a professor that I hate and like at the same time. I hate her because she never gives me A in her class. I was 1/500 points to get A, and she doesn't give it to me. Somemore, I was the one who did most of the work in the group paper and project becase my stupid group partners are totally screw up. Anyway, it was two semester ago. I started to like her after the class end. But, I took another class with her again last semester and she screw me up again! She kept changing what she told me and change it back the second time when I talked to her. Then, she gave me a bad grade again. I shouldn't have taken that course in the first place because after her retirement, the other professor is going to take over the course and he is the one who know what he is doing and wont kept changing something he told us before. Anyway, those are past. Just wish her all the best after her retirement.
When is it going to be my retirement? I am tired of being a responsible adult now (even though most of the time I am not). Tired..tired..tired of being a human..

Back..
Have been gone for few days. I am now almost recover from a cold?? flu?? don't know. As long as I can breath and can run around and yell around, I don't care wether I had a flu or cold anymore.
I am now in Durham using the apple again. I learned some new things. I know how to open a new IE by using apple, and also found out that apple has a prettier MSN than windows. One more thing that I found out is that apple helps to load almost all the image from a website. I was browsing through Skechers to look for some shoes but the website is extremely slow. Some pictures couldn't even show up by using windows. Then, I come to this apple computer, even though the website is still slow, but all the images are well loaded and I can compare which shoes I like most. I don't know whether it is because of the computer or the internet connection, but I am using these two computers in the same building, so, judge it by yourself.
I was pretty sick the last two days. Coughing, runny nose and tired the whole time. Now, I am getting better and hopefully, can make it to the state fair tomorrow. I have missed two state fair, which also mean that I never been to state fair even though I have been here for almost 3 years. I was back in my hometown last year and couldn't make it. Well, not really anything excited about state fair, just that Iowa is too quiet and too boring, it is fun to go for some big events and enjoy the once in a while noisy and crowded life you could find in Iowa.
Yesterday, I have been calling my new apartment's management three times in a row. I am so eager to move into the new apartment. I really really doesn't want to live in somebody else's place anymore. I really want to get my own space and live my own life. Guess, I am going to call them again today.

New Mall!!
I went to the new mall, Jordan Creek Town Center in west Des Moines yesterday. Wow! It is really huge (at least better than Valley West or Merley Hay Mall). They consist of three buildings and I only went to one of them because I don't think the other two buildings are ready yet.
This weekend is also the tax-free weekend. Thus, the new mall is packed with people and moving objects (baby stroller, it is quite annoying sometimes when some woman use the baby stroller as their shopping cart). Yesterday was also the first day we realize that the populations in Des Moines area are so big. Usually, you wont see so many people in Des Moines, but yesterday...WOW! We can hardly find a parking spot in that big parking lot. It is just so amazing to know that everyone is excited about this new mall.
They have quite a few new shops that we don't have in Iowa, for instance, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor Loft, Cheesecake Factory, P.F Chang, Dillard's and other new shops. There are also some shop that are not open yet. From the websites, I saw that they are going to have The Apple store. Wow, can't wait to see it.
I am excited with the new mall because they have these high class restaurants coming and it sort of increase the living standard in Iowa. I went to Minneapolis several times and they have all those cool and high class restaurant where you can pretend to be a rich people once in a while and go in to have some expensive dinner. It is hard to find a restaurant like this in Iowa. Now, well, there are at least something different in Iowa.
Anyway, for those who are not familiar with Iowa, this mall is about an hour away from where I live, which is good. At least, I wont spend too much money shopping because I don't know how to get there, and I am lazy to go there. ;)
Hope they will have a new and better mall in Ames soon. This will probably attract more student to ISU because when some people heard of ISU, they always think of corn field. :) If we have some new mall, better club, then, I guess people will want to come here. But in return, the populations will started to grow and the small little Ames will change too. Anyway, it is not in my control. So, don't worry about it and enjoy!

I slept pretty well last night without waking up until 9am, but, I got a very weird and kind of scary dream.
In my dream, there is a woman who will become a vampire when she is hungry but she will turn into a nun(Chinese nun, don't know what that called) after that. I am one of her food in that dream. Every time when she comes out to hunt for us (me an others I don't remember), we have to run as fast as we could and try to hide from her. When she comes, we will stay still and try not to move. When she found us, we will have to surrender and become her food. That is once that she found me, but I do not want to surrender and I ran again. Luckily I ran away from her but I have to receive the punishment. I remember that she shave off my hair and turn me into a nun. And in that dream, after turning into a nun, I am actually save from being eaten by her because she won't eat people around her. Then......I woke up.
Weird, huh?

So eager to get a tattoo on my back. This one is my favorite : http://tattoo.about.com/cs/tatart/l/bljulieback.htm but the butterfly in the middle seems a little skinny. Hmm..when will I have the guts to do it? We will see..
Just came back from a bridal shower. Pretty tired but it was fun. We secretly invited the groom to be the stripper for the bride. We cover her eyes with clothes and he started to touch and kiss her. She freaked out. When we opened her eyes, she cried when she saw that it was just her fiancee and then she wanted to strip her fiancee in front of us. Hahaha...guess, she drink too much.
They planned to go to club after the party but I am too tired to go anywhere. So, I decided to come back and go to bed. I need to wake up early tomorrow because it is KS's commencement tomorrow. Well, we will see if he is going to make it. He is still out there in some club named The Loft. By the way, speaking of commencement, I don't think I have any formal wear! Gosh...moving! Hope I can have better sleep tonight..with those red wine and beer in my stomach..

Still having a hard time trying to sleep on sleeping bags. Last few days, I have a great sleep on sleeping bags and I thought that I already get used to it. It seems that the truth is not. I woke up almost every 2 hours and stay awake for around 15 minutes and fall back asleep. Maybe I really need some Kahlua + milk in order to put myself into deep sleep. I don't know is it because I removed the layer of comforter on top of the sleeping bags and make it harder and also harder to sleep. Even though I slept at 11pm last night and wake up at 8am this morning, I still feel extremely tired and exhausted. I didn't get a good sleep. Hope this kind of life will be over soon.

Valuable Lessons
I learned some very valuable lessons these few days after living in my friend's apartment.
- When your friends asked you for a place to stay, if you agreed to take them in, treat them nice and with respects. Do not complain anything because they already feel bad about bothering you.
- When someone offer you help, don't take it for granted. No one is obligated to help you. Whatever things that they did for you, is all about friendship, care and love.
I don't know if I ever make anyone feel bad after temporary living in my apartment, (I don't think I did because I never have friends sleep over) but if I ever make any of you feel bad, I am really sorry. Now I understand the feeling of sleeping in other people's house and being treated badly. Even though I always said thank you to all the friends who helped me, in the future, I think I should do more than that.
All my friends, please forgive me if I ever make you feel bad or make you feel that I took all the helps you offer for granted. I am really sorry. I will try my best to change and learn to appreciate and respect others even more.

Thinking of my professor is coming back next week, makes me really sick in the stomach. I have been trying to relax these few days and now, it's time to start working on my stuff, even though some of them are not even my stuff.
I went to office pretty late today at around 11.30am and then I just realized that today is Mildred's retirement party. The party starts from 9.30am to 11.00am. Luckily Sa reminded me before it was too late. When I walked into the main office, Mildred was there. We have a little chat and we hugged and said good bye. I will really miss her. A smile that you will always see when you walked into the main office, good advises you will always get when you needed and all the reminders you will appreciate when you forget something small but important in your life. She will always look out for students who are graduated and not yet have a job offer. She will pass you all the first hand information about any job opening when you are looking for job, and will comfort you if the job interview doesn't work out.
Today, before she left, she told me, "Don't be frustrated when thing doesn't go your way because good things will always come around." This advise is what I needed the most for now. She also told me, life always has its own way to arrange stuff for us. Guess, I just have to be strong and live through the tough time in my life. I believe that fall and spring will come soon (I hate summer and winter).

Yesterday night, I move into another room cause the owner of the room got back from Malaysia, so, we have to find some other place to sleep. We didn't sleep in the living room because we think it would be inconvenient for them. Jack usually wake up earlier because he has to go to work at 8am, and I like to sleep until really late lately because my professor wasn't around and there are not much things for me to do. Thus, if we sleep in the living room, Jack might not be able to cook some stuff to eat cause he might feel bad if he woke us up.
Now, we are sleeping in Suki's room, hope he wont mind. We put a sleeping bag on the floor and then cover it up with another layer of comforter. This would make the sleeping bag softer and better to sleep, at least, I got a good sleep last night. Well, maybe is because of the Kahlua I drank last night before I went to bed. ;p The next time if I failed to sleep again, I would probably go out and drink some liquor. :)

Monday, August 2
Wanted to go home now. Need to take a sip of Kahlua plus milk or maybe Scotch plus coke. Really need something to drink right now.
I have a very serious sleeping problem recently. I always wake up in the middle of the night or I will stay awake for at least an hour before I could fall asleep. Even though I fell asleep, I usually woke up very easily. Guess, there must be something in my brain I am really worried about and gave me too much pressure. I am trying to figure out where are those pressure come from and will try to cope with it. School is going to start soon, I guess, this might be part of the reason. Biochemistry, TA and RA job really gave me a lot of pressure. I somewhat lost my confident after I stepped into graduate school. Maybe, I should have taken a semester off before I start my graduate study. Anyway, it is too late to talk about that right now.
Hopefully, KS could get a job soon, by then, I could for sure know that he wont leave this country until I complete my graduate study. God bless him.
YOHOO! I finally figure out how to cut and paste using MAC!!

Child Sponsorship Program
I browsed through a child sponsorship website today (www.worldvision.com.my). I almost wanted to sponsor a child since it only cost RM 300 per year, which is around USD 150 per year. However, two things have stopped me from doing so. First, I couldn't find a child in China who need sponsorship, and second, they need me to call them if I wanted to use credit card.
I know and understand that when you wanted to help someone, race, nationality or religion shouldn't be taken into account. But, I guess I just really really wanted to help China in some way. I always have this thinking about adopting a China baby girl or donate money to them. Well, my salary and my job doesn't reall allow me to do so. Thus, I guess I can only have my dreams come true sometime in the future.
I did browse through some other website for child sponsorship but they cost a lot more, about double the price, and those organization are not very popular, at least, to me, they don't seem very familiar. I guess I should double check before giving them my credit card number and everything.

Oh Boy Oh Boy...
I am now currently using the G5 in Durham computer lab. CL apartment's AC is not functioning. So, we are trying to chill ourself somewhere.
OH GOD! I really need help here! Somebody!! Somebody hear me?? How can I open a second IE? Please let me know. I have been trying to open a second IE but, I FAILED! I am now stuck with only 1 IE and cannot browse other stuff when checking my emails. Well, this is the second time I am using a MAC. Luckily, they have a Logitech mouse instead of the usual Apple's mouse. If not, I guess I will suffer more. Oh man..this computer log in really fast! Faster than those windows. You know, windows computer takes 2 minutes to prepare after you log in but this computer is all ready seconds after you log in. They somemore have a folder with your name on the desktop. COOL! Unfortunately, I still can't figure out how to open a second IE. Man, I am xxxx xx (something Mike usually said).
This G5 is definitely cool. They have flat screen, silver color CPU (is it call CPU for MAC? Sorry, I am not a Computer science person) and the usual white MAC keyboard. But one thing we kind of figure out is that ISU is getting those G5 because they want to attract more students. Well, you know, during summer, a lot of high school kids will come and visit ISU campus. If they see those cool G5 and might thought that ISU is really rich (which, we are really not) then they might come here to study. Huh..really wish that ISU can solve their budget problem soon. If not, guess, all the department ranking will drop soon.
Hmm..just realized that when using MAC, this blogger doesn't have the font size and type for you to choose. Who's probelm is that? Nevermind.
I can't find the view button on the IE. The font size is really small and is hard for me to read it. Guess, I should better go back to my usual Window.
Kiss the MAC Good Bye...I tried.....

Forwarded emails
Received several forwarded mails from my friend which annoys me a lot. Those forwarded mail usually start with these titles: "If you delete this, you have no heart!" or "Please help forward it to save the children" or whatsoever. Most of the time, they will say that some pity person has a disease and Microsoft or AOL or whatsoever will donate 3 cents or a dollar if you forward this email. This sounds really really stupid! And even worse is that some of them have been using computer for years and they should know better now that this are all stupid emails!
Just think about it, if those Microsoft or AOL can really know that you forwarded that email, will you feel secure to use the internet or your computer or program? NO!! And there are no ways they can track it! Maybe there are, I am not computer expert, but, why would they even bother to track those mails!? They have more important things to do than knowing that how many people know that some fake people on earth is sick! They would prefer to give you that money and leave them alone!
So, all my dear friends, please do not send those emails to me anymore, cause I will really think and treat you like you are SUPER DUPER DUMBASS! (especially, when you are a computer science/engineer major)
Well, guess probably not much friends will see it since there are only 5 people know about this blog. :)

Damn Annoying People!!
There is a kind of person in this world. When they are already 22, they acted like they are 12. When they met some other people, they always said, "I am still young". When they said it, they meant to tell you to treat them nice and protect them, which, most of the time, they actually know how to do it, but they just want others to feel like they are pity little girl and needs your love and protection. This type of person actually exist around me. She is 3 months older than me, and she kept telling, talking and acting like kids. That is this weirdest thing happen and I don't know whether I should laugh or I should cry.
We saw a wedding one day in our building, and then she asked me, "When you get married, will you invite me?" For god sake, of course, I said "NO!" And that person actually ask me, "Why?" Excuse me, not everyone like you! Hello! And missy, I barely know you! You only talked to me when you come to this building, cause you don't have any other friends. When you are outside with friends, will you ever think about me? Well, I don't want you to think about me either. I cannot stand your no-brainer crap talk. So, missy, please keep a distant with me cause, I am younger than you, and I wont waste any sympathy or "love" on you, and I don't give a damn on whatever you do! Well, if you happen to see this, you might go around and tell people that how bad I treated you, and you might cry like a baby (with your 100% acting skill), well, sorry, I don't give a damn! Go ahead, act like the "KIDS" you want with your overly mature and complicated heart + mind.
Is 1pm now and I am still at home. Damn..guess when I reach Des Moines (if I happen to have chance to go today), the Mall is probably closed. I am getting grumpier now. Don't come and bother me, especially that no-brainer-kid-pretender.

Saturday
Saturday, don't feel like hanging out with friends. Most of the Saturday, I prefer to go to Borders, and sit there and read. I usually read Us, People, In Touch..those entertainment news magazines. I like to look at the dresses those stars are wearing and what stupid things they have done lately. Sometimes, when I am done reading those magazines, I would read some cooking magazine, home improvement magazin or even some wedding magazines. I like to look at the wedding dress, the wedding decoration and places people chosed to have their wedding. It always makes me feel like wanted to be a wedding planner. Well, I guess I can only dream about it. It is too bad that I didn't know there is wedding planner this job out there. If not, I guess I won't even do my degree in Food Science. But anyway, it is too late to think about this.
Well, today I finished reading Us and People. Found out that People have more serious issues which I don't like it. They would write about some murder cases, some incident happen to an athletic or whatsoever that doesn't suit my mood at the time I read it. So, I usually just flip through those stories. Hei, it's Saturday man! Why would you want to fill your mind with those serious things?
I also look through a wedding magazine today, The Knot. I guess it is quite a good magazine for those bride-to-be. Well, if I have money, I would probably buy this magazine for Miki.
KS and his friends went to bar tonight. Well, I heard him coming back now. They went to Crush in Des Moines. Jack, CL's housemate joined him too. I didn't go because the sweet rice and coconut milk I ate during dinner make my stomach sick. Well, partly also due to my Saturday Anti-social Syndrome.
Time for bed. Have been staying up until 4.30am these few days. It is hard to go to bed earlier now. Hopefully can get into my dreams soon.
Hope I can wake up earlier tomorrow, at least before 12pm. I have been waking up at 1pm and 2pm these few days. I want to go to West Valley Mall tomorrow to get a dress for Miki's wedding party. Hopefully, KS could wake up as he promised and bring me there.

Farewell My Friend
Yesterday was the last day Luis staying in Ames. We have dinner together in Applebees right before they close. We then chat until we were the last group in the restaurant. It was fun and also, kinda sad. I know Luis for only, emm..around a month? Well, anyway, he is a nice guy to hang around with. He is an intern from Georgia Tech and he originally come from Puerto Rico. I know him through KS because he works in KS's lab. We went out a couple of time and he is fun to hang around with.
Luis, we are going to miss you, especially Mike. Farewell, my dear friend. Hope you can find a lady who could share the other half of your pendant soon. :-)

Homeless
Now, I am really homeless. I am currently staying in CL's house. Well, it was the best sleep I have so far because I was sleeping on sleeping bag before I moved into her apartment. Now, I am sleeping on KY's bed. Oh god! What a miserable time I have when sleeping on the sleeping bag. I woke up every middle of the night and staring at the ceiling. Well, the bed is too hard for me to sleep. I am not used to that and my back hurt really badly.
We have been cleaning the apartment every night these few days. We cleaned until 3am last night and vacuum it again today. Now, we are waiting for the management to check out our apartment.
The thing that pissed me off is the electricity. I called them and they couldn't stop my electricity by today. They said they do not work during weekend. Thus, I still have to pay for the electricity until August 2nd! But anyway, I am glad that this is over. Now I am trying to figure out how to get online in CL's house cause her computer is really slow and got virus. Hope I could hook up my computer with the internet in her house soon.
KY is coming back August 2nd. So, hopefully I can sleep on CL's bed this time. HAHAHA..
Well, I am now in Durham computer lab and I just saw that gayish guy from my ENGL 105 class walking in. I just met him today when we were eating in Thai Kitchen. Well, it is a small world afterall. I thought he is graduated. hmm...
Actually I have a lot to write these few days but without the computer and internet, guess, I can only think about it in my mind.

Salary Raised!
Well, just found out that they raised my salary by, emm, can't recall. But I know that after tax and everything, I have 23 bucks more to spend every month. Not very much, but yet, I am happy! Hahaha..
Moving..
Tonight, is time to move out from the apartment. We have the carpet cleaning scheduled tomorrow. So, we have to clear up the apartment by tonight. My homeless life will start tonight. From today onwards, I have to be nice to CL, so that she wouldn't kick me out from her apartment. Then, after August 16, hehehe... Hopefully she won't see this. ;p

Friendship forever..
Well, we went to Hickory Park today for Marco's birthday celebration. It is his first time having dinner over there. It is pretty nice. Catch up with some old friends, talking crap and laughing at each other. It has been quite a while never having dinner with them. Well, we have dinner once in a while but sometimes Mei doesn't make it. So, is basically only four of us. Miss the old time. Laughing and joking with each other. I know people move on. Sometimes, people grow apart. But I know that no matter how much we have changed, or how long we haven't been talking to each other, they are always there or I will always be here if they need me.
Happy Birthday..
Just realized that today is also Natalia's birthday. Sorry, I realized it too late and I can only go out for dinner with one of you guys. Happy Birthday to you, Natalia..All the best wishes in your future.. :)
I watched Jennifer Garner's movie today, "13 Going On 30" in a dollar movie theater. It was a nice movie. This movie actually makes me think what I really want in my life. In the movie, Jenna found out that she became someone else she doesn't even know when she turned 30, which is quite sad. Well, I guess, when money, success, social status had blinded your eyes and heart, your life must be really sucks! It is good if you realize it earlier, but if you realized it before you die....too bad..
Got part of the kitchen cleaned up. Still very lazy to work on these stuff. I was sleeping the whole day. The weather is really nice, not too cold nor hot. Iowa!
Tomorrow is Marco's birthday and also our lab semesterly lunch with my professor and lab mates. Well, after this semester, I guess I am the only graduate student left for Fall semester's lunch. Hope my professor will get a new graduate student soon. I don't like to be the only focus, I am not attention getter type of person in front of people I am not so close to. Indeed, it always make me feel uncomfortable when I am one. But, also hope that she wont get someone like the fat ass. This will shorten my life.
Looking forward to Fall semester, hopefully CL will get an assisstantship and stay in Ames, and also hopefully KS and Mei will get a job soon. We all need to start to save money for our future. Well, that's one thing you need to do when you are getting older and don't have a millionaire or billionaire parents. :) Should go and buy some powerball tomorrow. I might become a millionaire someday. :P Keep my finger cross.

Sunday, July 25
Yesterday, I was supposed to clean up the apartment. Well, I woke up at 1.30pm and ended up hanging out with friends again. We had a steamboat last night. It was pretty fun. Steamboat is not that popular in American. We have to explain to one of the American and Puerto Rican friends what steamboat means. They also never have shrimp/prawn with shell before. They were learning how to peel the shell last night when we were having the steamboat. Sometimes, it is sad to know that American only eat shrimp in several ways and most of the time, the way they cook it causes the shrimp to lose its taste. What they can taste is only the butter or the salt that added into the shrimp. It is sad to know that (I am a shrimp lover).
We went to bowling last night. This is the first time I play bowling in US. I never played bowling here before. I also realized that the lightest bowling ball they have is 8lb., which is still too heavy for me. Those 8lbs. balls also specially made for kids with smaller finger holes to grip the ball, luckily I manage to fit my finger into one of the 8lbs. balls. Anyway, I manage to play the first game with that superheavy ball with no strikes and several 0 scores. After we got out from the bowling center, my hair stink with the cigar smell in the bowling center again.

Moving Moving Moving..Dancing Dancing Dancing..
Yesterday was a long day. We rented a small U-Haul or mid-size U-Haul, I am not sure about the size because I am not the one who rented it, and moved our stuff into the storage area. I just realized that I have a lot of stuff! KS and my stuff can hardly fit into the U-Haul. Bun's stuff are not as much as ours. Luckily we have some good friends helping us out. They helped us to move our stuff from the third floor into the U-Haul then into the storage area which is far away from where I am going to move. Well, most of the storage area in Ames are full. So, we have to move to some place farther. I know it sounds kind of stupid, but, what can I do about it? My new apartment's contract start in the mid of August and there are no place that could possibly fit all of our stuff.
Now, my room is empty except this computer and a luggage filled with my clothes. It is kind of nice though. Is clearer and looks more comfortable. Maybe I should just move into a empty house and dump away all my furniture. :)
After the moving, we bring our friends to Pizza Pit for dinner. Then we went to Coconut Joes in Des moines. It is nice over there but is too crowded. You could hardly dance or walk in the dance floor. Well, we have to go at Thursday night because one of our friend is underage. Coconut Joes have a special at Thursday night which 18 and above can go in to have party but they cannot buy drinks. There are a lot of hot chicks in there but they come in pack. Thus, I guess is hard for those guys to approach them. One of the rules of getting approach is that you cannot stay in the group. ;)
The club have a bikini contest last night. One of the contestant actually flash her breast by pulling off her top and of course, she was the winner last night. When you show your breast, I guess you will win. The winner of the week will get 250 bucks and the winner of the month will get a thousand bucks!
We reach home at around 2.30am last night. I was exhausted after the whole moving and dancing. It was fun though.
Thanks to Jeff, Mike, Luis, Bun and his gf for their help during the whole moving process. I guess, without them, it might take us 6 hours to move those stuff.
Thinking of moving again at August 16, I feel really depressed now. But, thinking of going to live in a one bedroom apartment by myself, I guess it is worth the whole moving process.
